Shaggy and Davy here for festival

The North Bay Heritage Festival and Grant Forest Products Air Show announced its entertainment line-up Thursday, and the headline acts will be Jamaican reggae artist Shaggy and Davy Jones, of the 60s pop group The Monkees.

Thursday’s announcement ended months of speculation that the Tragically Hip was destined to be the headliner at the festival, but it was not to be, said entertainment coordinator Kevin Jodouin.

“We just couldn’t come to terms on a lot of the contract issues, so we mutually agreed not to pursue the contract,” Jodouin said.

“It was just too much for both parties to benefit.”

Shaggy, on the other hand, Jodouin said, will appeal to a larger demographic.

Actually he’s got a larger mass appeal than what the Hip does and he’ll have people who are five, 15, 25, 35-years-old coming out because they just love Shaggy,” Jodouin said.

The air show will include Steve Coan and his sailplane aerobatics act, three United States Air Force F-series fighter jets and aerobatic flyers Walt Addison Linscott and the Iron Eagle Aerobatics team.
