Pinewood Park Drive business owners may get their sewers yet.
Coun. Maureen Boldt, vice chair of the Engineering and Works Committee, said Monday night that city staff are working on a report about finishing infrastructure work for Pinewood Park.
A water main was installed by the city in 1996 at a shared cost with property owners, but sewage from Pinewood Park Drive still goes into septic systems.
Businessman Brian Tutton had come to council last October asking that the subject of a sewer line be put back on the table.
Following Monday night’s committee meeting of council, Boldt said the topic will be coming back to the forefront.
“Staff is working on a report which will be coming to us soon, and Brian Tutton is working with his people,” Boldt said, “but it looks like we’re going to work towards doing the project and I hope it will be approved by council this year for next year’s budget.”
Boldt said putting a sewer in “will open up a whole new division in our community.”
She said a similar scenario would likely be put in place, where business owners share the cost of the installing the sewer with the city.
