There's a good chance we'll see a severe thunderstorm this afternoon into the evening.
Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts and large hail.
Thunderstorms are expected to develop this afternoon with strong wind gusts and hail being the primary threats. A tornado or two cannot be ruled out says Environment Canada.
Expect scattered wind gusts of 90 to 110 km/h with nickel to toonie size hail
Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for:
- North Bay - Powassan - Mattawa
- West Nipissing - French River
- Témiscaming - Ville-Marie area
- Greater Sudbury and vicinity
- Bayfield Inlet - Dunchurch
- South River - Burk's Falls
- Huntsville - Baysville
- Temiskaming Shores - Temagami
- Town of Parry Sound - Rosseau - Killbear Park
Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!
The Office of the Fire Marshal and Emergency Management recommends that you take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.
