North Bay OPP are on the scene of a serious two-vehicle collision on Highway 11 North in North Bay.
Just after noon today, police were called to a collision involving a passenger vehicle and a transport.
Highway 11 North is closed in both directions from Marsh Drive to Cedar Heights Road and will remain closed for some time.
A detour has been set up for passenger vehicles only. The public should expect traffic delays and use alternate routes or avoid the area if possible. There is a southbound detour for light traffic only from Hwy 11 to Collins Dr to Cedar Heights Rd to Hwy 11 southbound.
Members of the OPP Northeast Region Emergency Response Team as well as the Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team are also on scene assisting with the investigation.
Members of the North Bay OPP detachment, District of Nipissing Paramedic Services and North Bay Fire Department also responded,
Greg Saunders, North Bay's deputy fire chief says they helped rescue three people involved in the collision.
"It was an awful collision up on the north highway," Saunders told the media.
"We had to unfortunately conduct an extrication and there were three people in the vehicle. I don't know their status but it was not a great accident obviously but our firefighters successfully extricated the people from the car."
The investigation is still ongoing and further information will be provided as it becomes available say police.
