Break out the jingle bells, West Nipissing seniors, because the Seniors Christmas Party is back.

The popular event takes place on Wednesday, December 11, at the West Nipissing Community and Recreation Centre at 219 O’Hara St., in Sturgeon Falls. Tickets are free, and they’re first come first served, so get yourself to one of the locations listed below to secure your spot.

Councillor Jamie Restoule noted, “It’s a great community event, and the seniors have done their fair share in building our community, so it’s nice to have an event for them.”

Doors open at 5 p.m., with dinner soon after. After dinner, there’s a dance, and rest assured there will be a cash bar on site. Not a senior? Don’t come a knockin’, because this event is a rockin’ exclusively for the 65 and older crowd.

Last year’s event cost just under $15,000 – there were over 400 people at the party – and council expects that cost to remain the same for this year’s dig.

Councillor Rolly Larabie summed up the event – “It’s just a good old time. And a great way to give back for all of the work they’ve done.”

Mayor Kathleen Thorne Rochon agreed, noting, “We did our first dinner as a council last year, and it was a really incredible event. I truly look forward to it again this year.”
