Union members picketed outside the Algonquin Ave. LCBO store this afternoon in opposition of expanding alcohol sales to grocery stores.
Members of the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU) hosted an information picket today as part of their ongoing campaign against the expansion.
"We believe it is vital to have these information pickets to educate the public," said Local 682 chief steward Amanda Pellerin and Local 682 president Judy Jones in a joint statement.
"We want to ensure (Ontarians) know that they own the LCBO, and that losing it could really hurt Ontario's future. The public needs to know that by shopping at the LCBO, you are giving back to your communities. You are paying for health care, infrastructure, recycling, and much more."
