The competition was not as fierce for school board seats as compared to city council.

Former MP and former city councillor Jay Aspin finished on top with 17 percent of the vote in the Near North District School Board.

Aspin finished with 4444 votes and nearly 500 votes ahead of second place finisher Bill Steer who had 3955 votes.  The other two trustees to get on board with the Near North Board were Louise Sargent who finished with 3810 votes and Donna Breault edged out April Leblanc by 11 votes for the final spot.

Heather Garbutt, Frank O'Hagan and John Dobbs finished sixth, seventh and eighth respectively.

However all the results are not expected to be official until Tuesday morning.
