The Bay loves those East Coast tunes.
It was only last October when local teacher Jamie Carruthers launched an East Coast concert series under the banner “East Coaster Studios Presents series,” and since that first show featuring Terra Spencer, the people can’t get enough.
Carruthers noted the next three shows he’s planning are all much larger than those held before. “It started out small trying to promote some great artists and it’s amazing how it’s grown.”
Indeed, the next show takes place at the Bishop Carter Auditorium within St. Joseph-Scollard Hall in North Bay. The venue holds around 450 people, so he’s hoping you can make it out. The concert will raise funds for One Kids Place, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping children in the community.

Terra Spencer is returning to town to perform, and Madison Violet are also taking the stage. Fans of Madison Violet know that after 25 years performing together, the band announced an “indefinite hiatus” via its social media this past February. So the catching this show may be your last chance to see the band live for some time. The band’s Ottawa shows are already sold out, same for the Halifax gigs.
“It’s a lot of work to get a show like this off the ground,” Carruthers admitted, who is still relatively new at producing concerts, but he said the talent was happy to help out and get involved, especially after hearing it was for such a good cause.
Carruthers added, “The goal is to support musicians and charitable programs, so this concert is a win-win for that.” As for those two other concerts Carruthers has on the cook, the talent hasn’t been announced yet, but Carruthers promised “They are already lined up, and we are bringing some huge names in East Coast entertainment.”
So, hold your horses for that. In the meantime, you can buy your tickets for the Terra Spencer and Madison Violet double bill. Tickets are $35 and available via TicketScene. The show is on Monday, April 28, with the music starting at 7 p.m.
