Les Compagnons des Francs Loisirs is promising a day filled with family activities and entertainment! as it celebrates Saint-Jean on June 24th.

The event takes place between 1-5 Saturday at the Kiwanis Bandshell on the waterfront.

"Les Compagnons has carefully prepared a diverse program of activities for both young and old to celebrate this special day," says a news release.

There will be a climbing wall, a bouncy castle, obstacle races, dance, and music throughout the afternoon featuring performances by Les Griffons, Éric Foisy and Katryne, the winners of Star Académie, Shawn Sasyniuk and Charlee, Xavier Boucher, Suzanne and Emma Rose, and Le Café Chantant.

Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day is celebrated mostly in Quebec where it is a holiday, but enjoys popularity across Canada and around the world.

It was brought to Canada by French settlers celebrating the traditional feast day of the Nativity of Saint John the Baptist.

Over the years the religious nature has largely faded into the background in favour a celebration of francophone culture and history.
