You can almost hear the kid's screams of joy!
Work started this morning on pouring the concrete for "North Bay’s Family of Rotary Splash Pad" and will be completed by the end of the day.
"Then all that remains before the pad will be open to the public is the installation of the centre feature, commissioning of the site and the inspection by the Health Unit," said spokesman Bill Hagborg.
Kid's toes could be dipping in the water as early as this Friday if everything goes according to plan.
"Finishing of the cement will be done later today," Hagborg told BayToday. "tomorrow there will be a crane coming to install the main feature with a big bucket on it in the middle, Tomorrow or Wednesday ABC Recreation, the subcontractor, will do commissioning of the site terminal and turn the water on and the city will take a sample to make sure it's ok."
Phase II will commence later this fall and early next spring with the installation of sun shelters, picnic tables, additional benches and the completion of the landscaping.
The club had hoped to open earlier this month.
"The only little delay we had was the cement. It's a special type that we had to be in a queue to get the work done so we had to wait our turn and we're really super-pleased that they were able to do it today. It was weather-dependent as well," added Hagborg.

Hagborg says another update will be coming by Thursday regarding the proposed soft launch. A formal ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place early next summer.
"The Rotary clubs also wish to thank all the businesses, organizations and individuals who have generously donated to help make this project a reality. We are now in sight of reaching our overall fundraising goal."
Since 2007, the Splash Pad Project has been on the planning agendas for the Rotary clubs of North Bay and North Bay-Nipissing.
"The desire from the outset has been to create a legacy for the community and to provide a catalyst for development in the downtown-waterfront area," adds Hagborg. "This fully accessible splash pad will be for “Kids from 2 to 102”.
The current estimate for the project is $650,000 excluding taxes, which includes the splash pad, washroom/changeroom facility, sun shelters, benches, picnic tables, and landscaping.
The splash pad is approximately 6,000 sq. ft.and is located behind the North Bay Museum.
There are three zones, toddlers, a family area, and older children or youth.
