The Rotary Club of North Bay launched its annual fundraiser, with the help of 2020-2021 Rotary4Kids Ambassador, Aidan, 11, a Grade 6 student at Woodlands Public School, and his mother Stacie Thompson Friday at the Rotary Splash Pad.

Entering its 18th year, this is the club’s main fundraiser to generate much-needed funds in support of area children and youth with special needs.

These needs range from the purchase of assistive devices, home renovations, vehicle conversions, enrollment into various programs, assistance to cover uninsured medical costs and out-of-town travel and funding for special needs teams..

This year’s 29-hour radio-a-thon will air on 106.3 Moose FM with host Kevin Oschefski. He will take to the airwaves at 5 a.m. on June 10 until 10 am the next day.

And new this year, the Rotary club’s first-ever online auction will run from June 7 to the 14.

Donations can be made online now at www.rotary4kids.ca and during the broadcast by calling 705-499-3109. Rotarians will also be showing up at various locations around the city to accept in-person donations.

Club President and Rotary4Kids Chair, Jeff Rogerson, stated “Since its inception, the radio-a-thon has raised over one million dollars for kids with special needs.

“The success of this fundraiser would not be possible without the very generous support of individuals and families, and so many organizations and businesses, both large and small, in our community”, Rogerson added.
