The old and the new are combining to hold an all candidates debate Thursday Sept. 17th.

The Nipissing University Student Union (NUSU), Retired Teachers of Ontario (RTO), and the Canadore Students’ Council (CSC) will jointly host the event to take place in room F213 at Nipissing University from 2-4 p.m., followed by a social from 4-5:30 p.m. at The Wall Bar & Grillhouse at Nipissing University.

Madison Byblow, Vice President External says Liberal Candidate Anthony Rota, Green candidate Nicole Peltier, and NDP candidate Kat Jodouin have already confirmed their attendance.

Only Conservative candidate Jay Aspin has yet to confirm.

The debate will focus on student and senior issues.

Byblow told BayToday that after one moderator question, three student and three senior issues will be formally debated, each with a 20 minute time limit.

That will be followed by a town-hall style of questioning from the audience, but details of that portion have yet to be ironed out.

The North Bay Chamber of Commerce event will not allow questions from the floor this time.

"Youth voting is at an all-time low," said Byblow. "We need more student voting to change the game."
