Approximately 7,398 men and women from North Bay and the surrounding area served in WW2.
Of those, 352 were killed in action or died of their wounds. Their names are inscribed on the North Bay War Memorial in Memorial Park.
"We must never forget the men and women, who have served, continue to serve, and who have fallen in times of conflict including Indigenous Veterans," Br. 23 President Bill Wood told BayToday.
Legions across Canada exist to remember their sacrifice while supporting veterans and active members of the Canadian Armed Forces and the RCMP, and various community programs.
"Support the Royal Canadian Legion by wearing a poppy this November," says Wood.
The Annual Poppy Campaign runs the two weeks prior to Remembrance Day. All Donations for the poppies go to support Veterans and veteran’s programs and stay local.
"The people of North Bay are very generous and the Legion wishes to thank them for their support," adds Wood.
