Rainfall warning replaces severe thunderstorm warning

Although the higher rainfall totals are expected to remain well north of North Bay, there are indications some areas have received over 50 mm of rain and may receive additional amounts of 30 to 50 mm, including New Liskeard, Kirkland Lake and Mattawa

A rainfall warning was issued at 4:20 p.m. by Environment Canada for:

  • North Bay - West Nipissing
  • Temiskaming Shores - Temagami
  • Greater Sudbury and vicinity

Rain, at times heavy, continues.

Hazards:

  • Rainfall amounts up to 100 mm
  • Rainfall rates of 30 mm an hour

Timing:

  • Continuing into this evening.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms continue to bring significant rain to some parts of northeastern Ontario. There are indications some areas have received over 50 mm of rain and may receive additional amounts of 30 to 50 mm.

This rainfall warning replaces the severe thunderstorm warnings that were in effect.

These higher rainfall totals are expected to remain well north of Sudbury and North Bay. Some locations impacted include New Liskeard, Kirkland Lake and Mattawa.

Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.

Watch for possible washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts.
