Quite a few locals make the 'Sunshine List'

The Province of Ontario published the Public Sector Salary Disclosure list (AKA Sunshine List) today and it seems that quite a few public servants in North Bay are doing quite well for themselves including Ontario Tourism Minister Monique Smith.

Under the Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act the province annually publishes the names of organizations as well as the annually the names, positions, salaries and total taxable benefits of employees and organisations that are paid $100,000 or more in a calendar year.

Ontario Northland led the charge with 61 folks making the list while the Northeast Mental Health Centre came in second with 50 people on the list. Both the ONTC and Northeast Mental Health Centre numbers include employees who work outside of North Bay. North Bay General Hospital rounds out third spot with 43 employees making the list.

Other health organisations with top wage earners include the Northeast Local Health Integration Network with 12 people on the list and the North Bay Parry Sound Health Unit with six.

On the education side of things Nipissing University fared well with 41 staff making the list, while their neighbours next door, Canadore College, had half of that at 20 people making the list.

Staying with education, 40 people at the Near North District School Board were published, followed by 23 at the French Catholic board, 12 at the French Public Board, while the Nipissing-Parry Sound District Catholic Board had just 8 employees making the list.

Meanwhile, 17 city employees appear on the list including 4 members of the fire department, and a dozen city police officers made the list too.
