Provincial leaders will hold debate in North Bay

Ticket prices are steep at $130 each

The four provincial leaders have confirmed they will gather in North Bay Feb. 14 for an election debate.

The "Northern Ontario Leaders’ Debate"  will bring together the leaders of Ontario’s main political parties to discuss issues of regional importance. The debate will occur at Canadore College’s G-Wing Theatre on Friday, February 14 at 1 p.m. but ticket holder must be seated 30 minutes in advance.

Tickets for the event are now available to the public, but the price is steep...$130 each. The Federation of Northern Ontario Municipalities (FONOM) will host.

The event will see Conservative leader Doug Ford, NDP"s Marit Stiles, the Liberal's Bonnie Crombie and Green Party leader Mike Schreiner squaring off.

“FONOM's mission is to improve the economic and social quality of life for all Northerners and to ensure a prosperous future for our youth,” said FONOM President Danny Whalen. “This debate provides an important opportunity for northerners to hear directly from provincial leaders about the unique challenges and opportunities impacting our daily lives.”

Tickets are available at the North Bay Battalion using promo code Debate, says a release.

Ticket holders must enter through the Main Entrance of Canadore and proof of purchase and a photo ID will be needed to enter.

Ticket sales close on Wednesday, February 12 at 4 p.m. No tickets will be available after this time.

"This is a high-security event, and all ticket-holder information will be shared with relevant police and security forces," says a news release. "Security screening will take place at the entrance, and bags will not be permitted. Arrive early, as security protocols may delay entry. "
