North Bay Pride week kicks off locally tomorrow with a series of events from September 13 to 17.
"North Bay Pride invites you to join us in a week of celebration, education, and solidarity as we raise awareness for the LGBTQ+ community's rights and challenges. Our events aim to create a more inclusive and equitable society where love knows no bounds," says a news release from the group.

Wednesday, September 13
Flag Raising (free) – 10 am – North Bay City Hall Kick off the week with a symbolic flag-raising ceremony at North Bay City Hall, proudly displaying the vibrant colors of the LGBTQ+ flag.
Julie LaLonde (free) – 7 pm – Nipissing University Theatre Join us for an inspiring evening with Julie LaLonde, an internationally recognized public educator and women’s rights advocate. Originally from northern Ontario and now based in Ottawa, Julie works tirelessly to end gender-based violence, engage bystanders, and build supportive communities.
Local Talent Show (free) – 7 pm – Lou Dawgs Enjoy a lively evening filled with the talent of our local performers, featuring singers, comedians, and drag performers. Get ready to be dazzled, laugh, and have fun as we celebrate the diversity and creativity of our community.
On Thursday the Ontario Drag Competition Finals sashay their way into the spotlight. at the The Capitol Centre. Hosted by the incomparable comedians Alec Mapa and Tranna Wintour, this event promises to be a celebration of artistry, self-expression, and sheer talent.
Seven finalists from across Ontario will take the stage, leaving no sequin unturned in their quest for the coveted crown. With their charisma, uniqueness, nerve, and talent, these performers are prepared to deliver an unforgettable show that will have you on the edge of your seat.

- Kimmy Couture from Canada's Drag Race
- Kiki Coe from Call Me Mother

The judges will also be performing, showcasing their own talents and charisma for your entertainment. Gay country music star, Drake Jensen will be gracing the stage with a performance that will leave you singing along.

Trans March 2023, set to take place on September 15th, at 7:00 PM in front of North Bay City Hall. This march represents a powerful call to action, bringing together individuals from all walks of life to demand equity, inclusion, and to underscore the fundamental truth that trans rights are human rights.
