Power is out, while trees and hydro poles have been downed due to the high winds that swept through the North Bay area this morning.
Environment Canada warned residents this morning in their EC Alert that the west winds would gust to as high as 100 km/h.
Reports of downed hydro poles are coming from near the Voyageur Inn on the North end of the city.
North Bay Deputy Fire Chief Greg Saunders is calling the power outage massive.
"It's all over the city," stated Saunders to BayToday.ca's Dennis Chippa.
However, power is still on in some parts of the city.
The North Bay Police add that Lakeshore Drive is temporarily closed to traffic from Birches Road to Hwy 11.
The North Bay Police Service also asks motorists to please avoid Chippewa from Ferguson to Fisher due to flooding.
The high winds are part of a vigorous cold front which is sweeping across southern ontario and portions of northeastern Ontario.
