Another popular local event has been cancelled in the wake of COVID-19.
The Powassan Agricultural Society has announced that sadly, it would not get to celebrate a big milestone...its 125th anniversary.
The government says there would be no large venue sporting events, concerts, or public gatherings this summer.
"Our fair is before the official end of summer so we knew this would put us at risk," says a news release from the group.
"We have watched the cancellation of many fellow fairs and local events. With the inability to have our monthly meetings to plan the fair, and with the uncertainty of the pandemic, we have decided to cancel this year’s fair. Unfortunately, that means we cannot celebrate our 125th anniversary in 2020.
"Our decision was not made in haste. The safety of our fair patrons, volunteers, exhibitors, vendors, and our members is not something we would ever want to risk."
