"Prior to the attempted murder that occurred on Saturday, December 4, it is believed that the victim and two accused in this incident were involved in an interaction along the 200-block of Main Street East," says police spokesman David Woolley.

Security camera footage obtained by police shows two potential witnesses travelling in the area between 10 and 10:30 a.m. who may have seen it.

"The North Bay Police Service would like to make clear that these potential witnesses had no criminal involvement in this incident," adds Woolley. "The North Bay Police Service is looking to identify these individuals to obtain information that may be pertinent to the investigation."

North Bay police arrested and charged a man and a woman with attempted murder after a man that was known to them was assaulted downtown Saturday morning.

At 10:40 a.m. on Saturday, police and EMS responded to reports that a man was seriously injured from an assault and required medical attention. An adult male victim was found downtown on Wyld Street and rushed to hospital in critical condition.

On Sunday at 5:15 p.m., officers raided a home in the 500-block of Rose Avenue.

One of the suspects was located inside but fled from the police. Shortly thereafter, police found and arrested the person outside. At the same time, the other suspect was located in another residence in the 500-block of Rose Avenue by police and arrested.

Police say the victim remains in critical, but stable, condition and the attackers were known to him. They also say a weapon is involved, however, "in order to maintain the integrity of the investigation, we cannot specify what type of weapon."

Sandra Dorothy Haggart, 34, of North Bay is charged with, "Attempt to commit murder."

Travis Stillaway, 26, of North Bay, is charged with:

  • Attempt to commit murder
  • Four counts of failure to comply with a release order

The accused are currently in custody.

Anyone who may be able to identify the witnesses or may have witnessed this incident themselves, or has dash camera or security camera footage of this incident, is asked to contact the investigating officer, Detective Constable Jackson, at the North Bay Police Service at 705-497-5555 or anonymously via Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
