Officers with the North Bay Police Service are gearing up for the summer with a police bicycle course. Patrolling on a bicycle allows more interaction with the community and allows access to more areas like trails and bike paths and allows access to the trails and communication with people who are cycling and walking in our communities.
Spokesman John Schultz says that there has not been a date selected to resume the program just yet.
"When up and running they will be patrolling all areas of North Bay and also follow the trail right down to Callander. I would anticipate emphasis on the downtown cores of both our communities."
Officers doing this type of patrol can respond to calls for service or do enforcement when required.

North Bay Police Chief Scott Tod is a supporter of the program which was not operated since 2016.
"We understand the importance of being visible within our community, not just in our cars but by walking the beat as we call it as well as our bicycle patrols," Tod told BayToday back in January.
"We have not had a full-time bicycle patrol in three summers and that is due to officer availability within the service and that is either due to training - members away from work on injury or illness, and also the commitments that we have in regards to our officers responding to calls for service of an urgent type."
And the cycle continues. Our officers are gearing up for the summer with a police bicycle course. Bicycle patrol allows more interaction with our community & allows access to more areas. See you this summer! pic.twitter.com/pR7KCjFksC
