UPDATE: Around 6 p.m. the North Bay Police Service is asking members of the public to avoid the entire length of the Kate Pace Way while officers conduct search and containment efforts.

There has been a heavy police presence along Fisher Street and the downtown area of North Bay as OPP and city police try to track down a wanted man.
The North Bay Police Service in a release says they are "actively seeking to locate Marc Gauthier who is wanted on a Canada-wide warrant who was last seen fleeing the area of Fisher Street in the direction of North Bay’s downtown core."
At approximately 4:30 p.m., Police say Gauthier fled police on foot after police stopped a vehicle on Fisher Street. It is believed he is headed to the area of the downtown core.
Police say Gauthier is described as:
- White Male
- Bald
- May be clean shaven
- 54 years old
- Approximately 5’8” tall
- Approximately 160 lbs
- Last seen wearing jeans and a black t-shirt with a white logo on the back
On July 7, 2023, the OPP in Orillia issued a release as the Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (R.O.P.E.) Squad is requesting the public's assistance in locating a federal offender wanted on a Canada Wide Warrant as a result of their breach of statutory release.
OPP say he is serving a forty-one (41) year, four (4) month and eighteen (18) day sentence for possession of a weapon, robbery (x16), armed robbery (x16), robbery using a firearm (x8), possession of firearm while prohibited, possesssion of prohibited firearm with ammunition, prohibited weapon in vehicle, pointing a firearm, forcible confinement, discharge firearm-cause bodily harm, possession of explosive substance, possess weapon for dangerous purpose, disguise with intent, escape lawful custody, assault, break and enter (x2), theft (x2), possession of property obtained by crime (x4), possession of scheduled substance for the purpose of trafficking (x2).
The offender is known to frequent Barrie, Parry Sound, and Quebec.
Gauthier is also currently wanted by Nottawasaga OPP for an armed robbery in Alliston
