Police investigating homicide in downtown North Bay

'At this time it is not believed that there is a threat to the public'

North Bay Police are offering very little details in connection to a homicide investigation in the downtown core of North Bay.

Police say the incident occurred in the early morning of December 17.

"The investigation is in the preliminary stages, and is being led by the North Bay Police Criminal Investigation Section," stated David Woolley, corporate communications officer with the North Bay Police Service in a media release.

As part of the investigation, there is an increased police presence in the area of Fraser Street between Worthington Street West and Second Avenue West.

As a result of this investigation the following roadways are closed to both pedestrian and vehicular traffic including:

  • Fraser Street between Worthington Street West to Second Avenue West; and
  • First Avenue West between Ferguson Street and Fraser Street.

Police ask the public to avoid this area.

"At this time it is not believed that there is a threat to the public," stated Woolley.

Woolley says further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.

Anyone with information that may assist the police with this investigation is asked to call the North Bay Police Service at 705-497-5555 and select option 9 to speak to a police officer.
