Update: Police incidents on Front St. and Cedar St. end peacefully

"Police are dealing with an active situation at a residence in the area"

Police spokesman David Woolley says the "hold and secure" has been lifted from Algonquin and St. Joseph Scollard Hall schools. surrounding streets have been reopened.

Four people have been arrested but no charges have yet been announced.

Police were called to an apartment unit at the corner of Cedar and Morin St. shortly after 9 this morning. That incident then led police to search792 Front St. at the corner of Morin St. Police say the two investigations are linked.

An incident involving multiple members of the Emergency Response Team ended peacefully around 10:30 a.m. Friday morning. 

The North Bay Police issued a public safety warning via Twitter Friday morning around 9:30 a.m. stating that "police are dealing with an active situation at a residence in the area." 

The police had blocked off a large portion of Morin Street from High to Front Street.  Multiple ERT Team members and officers were seen carrying assault rifles at the scene as police surrounded an apartment. 

Four arrests have been made.  

Both Algonquin and St. Joseph Scollard Hall schools had issued a Hold and Secure. 

"Please note that École secondaire catholique Algonquin is in Hold and Secure as police has advised there is a public safety concern in the area of Cedar Street at Morin Street and McLeod Street. Police are dealing with an active situation at a residence in the area," the Conseil scolaire catholique Franco-Nord stated on social media.

The Hold and Secures have subsequently been lifted at the schools. 

Morin Street is located halfway between the two area high schools.
