5th Annual Polar Plunge for Special Olumpics raises funds over 250 local athletes

The 5th Annual Polar Plunge for Special Olympics raises money to assist athletes with costs associated with participating in sporting events year round.

This year's fundraiser brought dozens of people to the North Bay waterfront where they jumped into the frigid waters of Lake Nipissing.

Kicking off the event was a marriage renewal ceremony for Sylvie and Chris Thorn who, following the nuptials, was the first to take the plunge.

There is still time to donate by going online to the Polar Plunge North Bay to help meet the $20,000 goal.

The following is a snapshot of some of the people who raised money by jumping into the lake, cheered on by family, friends and the curious.
