Bill Parfitt is a local farmer and Second World War veteran.

In the Echo Essentials Podcast clip above, Bill Parfitt, 99, visits the Echo Essentials Podcast studio to share his Second World War experiences as an RCAF tail gunner flying bombing runs over Germany.

Co-hosts Scott Clark and Dave Dale are joined by Parfitt leading up to Remembrance Day. The patriarch of a four-generation farming family in Widdifield Township talks about the need to vote as a duty in a democracy and says he wrote a letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin to tell him to relax.

Parfitt is also threatening to go back before our city council to ensure parkland beaches at Four Mile Lake and Otter Lake are properly developed. He says the land was donated by a veteran and is dedicated to young soldiers from the area who were lost in the war. Parfitt is disappointed the city hasn't acted on the two swimming beach projects he petitioned for.
