It’s been a while since Mark Cicciarelli worked on his projects in the Shop at St. Joseph-Scollard Hall.
However, he has not forgotten about his old high school.
The plumber who has been working at Alba Plumbing for close to 20 years has donated about $1000 worth of copper piping and supplies to keep the shop program going.
“When I found out that plumbing was part of it, it struck me to help out the school and you know, you always want to reinvest back into the community and I am a firm believer of that so in my part I want to donate copper fittings and some of the smaller material, the pipes, and hopefully this way it gives the kids a chance to see what plumbing is all about,” said Cicciarelli.
“Out of 10 if I can get one or two to say they enjoy and want to pursue, that is something for on our end.”
Adolph Crea, runs the program at St. Joseph-Scollard Hall. He says more than 50 students from grade 10 to 12 take part in Shop classes.
He says the donation is a huge help.
“It is very much appreciated because from day one trying to develop this project we have always run into material costs and they just continue to go up year after year so the help that we are receiving is great,” said Crea.
“Part of the program is talking about careers and Mark has graciously donated materials for this program and he has even planned to come in and do a lesson on plumbing with the students and I totally see the value in that for the students to see how an alumni is helping out and giving back and also for them to see a real-world business perform the tasks at hand.”
