Jeff Rogerson has had to deal with a lot of weather related issues while managing Osprey Links Golf Course in Callander.
But despite the heat, Rogerson believes this is one of the best summer’s he has seen in North Bay for quite a while.
“We certainly had a string of wet and cold summers leading up to 2016,” Rogerson recalled.
“The year 2013 rings a bell in my mind, I remember it being cold and damp and speaking with some of the staff ‘my goodness I’m looking forward to 2014 because it can’t be any worse than 2013 and in fact it was as it was colder and wetter.
“Last year we had a cold wet spring but the summer itself was pretty good but this year was top notch weather pretty much right through the spring and right through the entire summer and right to where we are today.”
Yes, unlike many golfers games, the weather was very consistent this summer.
“We were able to rely on the weather and we were able to rely on the sunshine from essentially early in June right through to even today where it’s September 7th and it’s actually blistering hot out for today, the time of year,” he said in an interview on Wednesday.
“Absolutely nothing to complain about, who really would and it doesn’t really matter what your outdoor recreation might be whether its golf or any other activity.”
Even when conditions were getting too hot, a timely weather change came.
“We experienced some drought-like conditions through July that were not terrible and just as things were starting to get severely dry, August arrived and we got some abundant rain through August,” he said.
“Really I think its as close to a perfect summer as we could ask for.”
