A group of local doctors were recently recognized through the North Bay Regional Health Centre Foundation.
Golden Heart Awards were presented to Dr. Connor Edie, ED, Dr. Rogy Masri, ED, Dr. Jeff Hodge, DI, Dr. Dom Krzeczunowicz, DI, Dr. Mike Loreto, DI, and Dr. Jim Vigars, Family Medicine, for the impact they had on a patient experience.
These local doctors worked together to make a difference for a patient
“It has been quite a year," patient Lexy Dobson said.
"In March, I sought care at our Emergency Department. I had a painful headache. I had no idea how this was going to change my life.
"While in the ER, Dr. Conner Edie was my Physician. He ordered tests and scans, and it was he who delivered the difficult news to me; I had a brain tumour. He was incredibly kind, caring, and sensitive in delivering this news."
The grateful patient says the CT showed a tumour which required further scans.
"I was sent swiftly for an MRI. Dr. Jeff Hodge, Dr. Dom Krzeczunowicz and Dr. Mike Loreto ensured my imaging was prioritized, and it showed that I had a rare tumour. They were accommodating and ensured my scan was read quickly."
Dobson says Dr. Rogy Masri should also be recognized.
"Dr. Rogy Masri continues to go above and beyond with his exceptional care. He made me feel at ease as my symptoms progressed and kept me informed while reaching out to my neurosurgery team in Toronto," Dobson continued.
Dobson also gives credit to Dr. Jim Vigars, her family physician
"He has been so supportive, caring and continues to help me with whatever support and care I need," she said.
These exceptional Physicians went above and beyond for a patient at NBRHC, inspiring a Grateful Family donation to the Foundation.
The Golden Heart Award is given through the Grateful Family donation where a staff member, physician, volunteer or department is recognized by a patient or a patient's family.
Those honoured from the donation are recognized at staff meetings, on the hospital blog, and are awarded a golden heart badge for their name tag.
