The annual Parade of Lights in Powassan was a definite crowd pleaser with people clapping and taking pictures as it made its way along the town’s Main Street.
The temperature was perfect for the evening event, drawing hundreds along the parade route.
There was something for everyone from horses, to fire trucks, to Grinch themed floats and of course, the guest of honour, Santa Claus.
Kathy Hogan, the special events coordinator for the municipality, said anyone looking closely enough, would have spotted a lion cub.
No lights were spared when it came to decorating the floats.
“It was actually really good this year. I was surprised. In normal years the floats aren’t decorated as much. They did a really good job decorating them this year,” said Kimberly Montgomery.
“I live here, so I’ve been here every year that we’ve had it. I would have to say this is one of the best years.”
Markus Wand enjoyed taking in the parade with his family.
“I thought the parade was great, with lots of nice looking floats and a lot of kids out to enjoy the festivities. It gets bigger and better each year, more floats, more people coming out to watch. It is nice to see.”
Roughly 320 pounds of food was collected for the local food bank.
