(Lake Nipissing, ON) – A search on Lake Nipissing last evening was conducted by the North Bay OPP Snow Machine/Marine Unit, the North East Region Snowmobile All Terrain Vehicle Vessel Enforcement (S.A.V.E.) team, the West Nipissing Police Service and the family of a missing 72-year-male.

Hector Paquette, of Sturgeon Falls, was reported overdue by his family. Paquette was ice fishing Thursday in the area of Target Island near the mouth of the French River. He was due to return home between 3 and 4 p.m.

At approximately 7:00 p.m., his family reported him missing to the West Nipissing Police who, in turn, advised the North Bay OPP.

Police and the family conducted a search after 11:00 p.m. last evening and located Paquette safely in his Ice Shack. Paquette sheltered himself because of the heavy storm.

He was returned home uninjured, safe and sound.
