The Ontario Provincial Police are looking for the culprits who dumped a load of lobster near the shoulder of Highway 17 in Bonfield, east of North Bay.
The North Bay OPP reminds the public that it is illegal to litter or dump on the highway.
"This will cause additional safety hazards when it attracts wildlife (various) to come out of the forest and make their way onto the travelled roadways," the OPP stated on social media.
Anyone with information about the discarded lobster, please call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
Under section 180 of the Highway Traffic Act, "Every person who throws or deposits or causes to be deposited any glass, nails, tacks or scraps of metal or any rubbish, refuse, waste or litter upon, along or adjacent to a highway, except in receptacles provided for the purpose, is guilty of the offence of littering the highway."
Fines for littering range from $60 and $500.
