WEST NIPISSING, Ont. — Minutes into the last day of 2021, the Nipissing West OPP investigated a traffic complaint on John Street in Sturgeon Falls.
Friday at 12:11 a.m., police responded and report having found a parked vehicle that was running with the driver sleeping behind the wheel.
The driver was found to be impaired, was arrested and then transported to the North Bay OPP Detachment for further testing.
As a result of the investigation, Paul Charbonneau, 67, from Thorne, Ont., was charged with:
- Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused was released on an Appearance Notice and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on February 3, 2022, in West Nipissing.
The accused was issued both a 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
