The municipal election was one week ago.  For the past week, I have had time to reflect on the results and I came to an obvious conclusion; while I lost my bid to become Mayor, I still have lots to contribute. I passionately believe in this community, the people and the future, just as 6,700 voters believed in me and I am not going to let them down.

I ran for Mayor because I believed I could make a difference and I still believe I can make a difference. I don’t need to be Mayor to continue to be involved.  I plan to carry on advocating for what I believe.  I will do so as an individual as I have always done in the past in a positive and constructive manner.

Mayor McDonald and I may disagree on issues, policy, and platform, but together we are united in our love for North Bay and the shared desire for a better future. I am still committed to North Bay and I honestly believe our time will come.

I believe that democracy doesn’t end at the ballot box, but that citizens should be engaged in their community and that ultimately decisions made by Council and City staff affect everyone. I reference the Friends of the Dionne Quints as an example of citizens that made a difference. To be engaged should be encouraged and welcomed by Council.

I wish nothing but the best for the new Council. In this election, there has been a lot of talk about transparency, honesty and integrity and involving the community in shaping our future.  I truly hope that this Council delivers on these promises.
