“Dancing with the Stars” to benefit Victim Services of Nipissing District (known as VCARS) goes tomorrow night, Saturday, February 13, 2010 proudly sponsored by Dean’s Pharmasave.

“Dancing with the Stars” takes place at the Clarion Resort with six dance couples competing for top honours as Nipissing District’s Best Dancers. Each couple will consist of one professional dancer and one “celebrity”. The dancers will be judged by a set of professional dance judges and the audience. Our distinguished celebrities have been practicing their routines over the past couple of months to put on a stellar performance.

They are:
Carolle Dionne (OPP), Chris Mayne (City Council), Jean Lemieux (Crime Stoppers), Jessie Webster (North Bay Jail), Lise Leblanc (West Nipissing Hospital and Steve Brown (North Bay Police).

Cocktails start at 6:00 p.m. with dinner at 7:00pm. The dance competition will commence after dinner. There will be a spectacular silent auction taking place all evening with wonderful items to bid on. Tickets are $100.00 per person. All proceeds will go to assisting victims of crime and tragic circumstances in North Bay, Mattawa and Sturgeon Falls.

Victim Services of Nipissing District is an organization that has been supporting victims of crime and trauma through VCARS since 1998. Victim Services is volunteer based and operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week providing short-term emotional support and practical assistance to victims in partnership with Police and other emergency services. Funding for the program is provided through the Ontario Victim Services Secretariat of the Ministry of the Attorney General. There are currently over 80 Crisis Responders in our 3 communities responding to all types of crime and trauma.

Come out and support Victim Services, vote for your favourite dancers and enjoy a great evening of entertainment!
