North Bay Blooms volunteers dug in and had a great day for tree planting on Saturday with over 40 trees being planted around the community.
Sponsored by TD Friends of the Environment and with the help of a number of Crisis Center Board members, 12 mixed trees were planted at the old CN railway station which will now be the home of the North Bay Crisis Center.
Next Saturday, three more trees will be planted for the Crisis Center by the local chapter of the Friendship Force with the help of North Bay Blooms. Also A visiting Friendship Force group from Harrisburg was pleased to be able to commemorate their visit with a tree planting at the local Crisis Center residence on Cassells St.
Other Trees were planted along the Parks Creek Conservation area and it is hoped they will survive the current beaver activity in the area. Protective meshing around the base of the trees is expected to help.
If you or your group are involved with a tree planting initiative, please let North Bay Blooms know and they plan to recognize the best community tree planting project at the end of the summer.
Next on the North Bay Blooms to-do list are the Wednesday Community Clean Up Nights starting Wednesday June 3 and the garden contests starting in June. See their website for more details www.northbayblooms.com.
