Jesse Lefebvre lives up to all the small hockey player cliches.

The measurement of the size of his heart certainly out measures his height, or "it's not the size of the dog in the size of the fight in the dog."

That's showing this season in the Great North U18 AAA Hockey League this season for the U16 AAA Trappers forward.

Going into the weekend the 5'7" 140 pound forward has 14 goals and 6 assists for 20 points in 21 games so far this season including 6 points in his last three games.

"I'm a good skater I get pucks first before everyone and I make plays out of nothing and I'm a greedy player. I play a physical game and everyone underestimates me because I'm not a big person but I do intimidate everyone," said Lefebvre, who is a Brad Marchand clone.

Lefebvre has proven this year he cannot be intimidated despite his stature. That has helped him become a reliable forward for this Trappers team.

"I've been working my lower body a lot over the summer and I'm trying to get stronger so the bigger guys won't push me off the puck and it's helping right now and obviously my speed is a good asset I have as well," noted the Sturgeon Falls product, who scored the tourney winning goal for the Trappers in November at the Kitchener BlueLine Tournament.

"I've been trying to practice my cycle game a lot and it creates more opportunities for me because I'm always moving and that's a big part of my game is speed so I feel like speed kills."

Lefebvre continues to work hard in hopes of having his name called for the 2022 OHL Priority Selection.

"It’s one of my main goals and I'd be pretty proud of myself and all the work I've put in and I could actually look back at something and be proud of myself for it," he said.

Despite his size, OHL scouts are watching.

"What Jesse Lefebvre lacks in size he makes up for with Hockey Intelligence," one scout said.

"He has a good understanding of the game, and he does not let his stature limit his effectiveness as a two-way player. He works hard every shift and shows the same consistency game after game.

"He has a knack for scoring well-timed goals and has consistently found himself on the score sheet this season. His high hockey IQ and strong work ethic make him a fun player to watch."
