It was a golden moment for Fiona Madigan in Ottawa on Thursday.
The grade 9 West Ferris student captured gold in the OFSAA track and field novice long jump event.
"She had moved from fourth to first on her fifth jump but was bumped down to second before she launched her winning jump," Sean Madigan, Fiona's dad stated via social media.
Fiona will also be chasing more hardware today as she takes part in the 100 M sprint event.

Madigan got to OFSAA courtesy of a few amazing performances at the NOSSA track and field event last week in Sudbury.
She won gold in the long jump event and then broke a NOSSA record by finishing first in the Novice Women's Triple Jump with a 10.69 m jump; nearly a full metre further than the second-place finisher.
Madigan also placed second in the NOSSA 100 M sprint event.
