Northgate Shopping Centre continues to operate but officials at the mall say the food court has been closed due to the mandate set out by the province earlier this week.

"Our food court and seating areas are closed to inhibit groups from congregating as well," stated Jordanna Grant, marketing director, Northgate Shopping Centre in an email to BayToday.

"Food court tenants that wish to continue to offer take-out can do so."

The Tim Horton's and A & W are reported to be offering takeout from the mall location. The seating area near Tim Horton's is also taped off to the public.

A number of stores in the mall have started to lay off staff temporarily due to the COVID-19 outbreak but some remain open.

The mall cancelled all its March Break events and according to mall officials, some tenants have scaled back their hours of operation with Dollarama and Walmart still operating under their normal hours.
