Some changes within the North East Region Command team announced today.
Newly promoted Superintendent Mike Pilon has assumed command of the Regional Superintendent of Support portfolio. Pilon has 24 years of policing experience including in 2012 when he completed a United Nations stabilization mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Inspector Cathy Bell has assumed the Manager of Staff Development and Training portfolio. Bell has 28 years of policing experience and became the first provincial Amber Alert Coordinator. In 2000,
Newly promoted Inspector Tyler Sturgeon will assume command of the NER's East Algoma Detachment. Sturgeon joined the OPP in 2006 and served at the Longlac and Greenstone Detachments in the North West Region. While there, he was primarily involved in major crime investigations before being promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 2013. In 2016 he was promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant - Operations Manager at the East Algoma Detachment.
