Kid alert!

If your kids have been going bananas and bored to death, hope is near.

The Family of Rotary’s Splash Pad is open as of noon today.

The pad is located behind the North Bay Museum on Ferguson Street.

And: North Bay and Callander delay opening their community splash pads

The opening is in line with the Ontario Government’s recent Stage 2 announcement, lifting additional restrictions for much of the province including North Bay.

The splash pad will operate daily between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. weather permitting but is unsupervised and is not sanitized.

Children must be supervised at all times and users are reminded to wash or sanitize their hands after use. Also, children should remember to stay two metres away from other using the splash pad and to follow all guidelines related to social gatherings.

Washrooms at the splash pad facility will be available. The City is also working to reopen park washrooms at a number of locations with increased cleaning, including Marathon Beach and Lee Park.

Washrooms at the Waterfront Marina were previously opened.

Meanwhile Callander will wait a little longer.

"We're looking at possibly next Friday," Callander Mayor Robb Noon told BayToday.

"It's just an organizing thing. How are we going to maintain social distancing because we have that push pad so every 10 minutes somebody has to push it (to operate the system). Staff are looking into the logistics of opening. We can't leave it closed all summer, it hurts the businesses in town and they look forward to that."
