A few experienced North Bay police officers are moving up the ranks.

The North Bay Police Service announced Wednesday that Jason Long has been promoted to Staff Sergeant, while Erin Honeysett and Roger Drolet have moved to the rank of Sergeant.

"Collectively, S/Sgt. Long, Sgt. Honeysett, and Sgt. Drolet have more than 60 years of policing experience with the North Bay Police Service," a police service release stated.

Scott Tod, North Bay's Police Chief believes the promotions are deserved.

"Their careers have been marked by a profound dedication to the policing profession and the community of North Bay. Our Service and the people of North Bay will be well served with them in enhanced leadership roles,” said Tod.

The accolades and recognition for the three long servicing officers are significant.

Staff Sergeant Long began his career with the North Bay Police Service in 2001. He has worked a variety of positions within the service including Front Line Patrol and Criminal Investigations. In addition to major crimes during his time in the Criminal Investigation Section, he focused on cases of child exploitation and internet crimes against children for which he was awarded a North Bay Police Service Board Commendation for his work with the Provincial Strategy.

Jason spent seven years on the Emergency Response Team and returned to the team as the Officer in Charge when he was promoted to Sergeant in 2020.

He worked as a supervisor in the Criminal Investigations Section supervising both the Platoon Detective Constables and Major Crime Investigators.

Staff Sergeant Long has been the recipient of numerous thank you letters from members of the community, and was awarded a Chief's Commendation in 2013 and a Deputy Chief's Commendation in 2015.

Jason is an active volunteer in the community and was a past board member of the Children’s Aid Society for the District of Nipissing and Parry Sound. He currently sits on the board of directors with the North Bay and District Canadian Mental Health Association. Staff Sergeant Long will return to Patrol this summer as the Officer in Charge of Platoon 2.

Sergeant Roger Drolet began his career with the North Bay Police Service in August of 1998. He has worked a variety of positions within the service including Front Line Patrol and Criminal Investigations. Roger was the Use of Force Instructor for the service for several years and was a member of the Emergency Response Team from 2004 – 2014.

Drolet has been in charge of the court section as an Acting Sergeant and has been in the School Liaison Officer position since 2021. In addition to his commitment to the Critical Incident Stress Team, Roger is active on a number of committees within the organization, including the annual Charity Golf Tournament which raises funds for organizations in need within the community. Sergeant Drolet will return to the Court Section this summer as the Sergeant in charge of day-to-day court operations.

Sergeant Erin Honeysett began her policing career with the Ontario Provincial Police in 2004 and joined the North Bay Police Service on July 4, 2006.

Over the course of her career, she has been assigned various roles within the Service including Mobile Crisis Officer, Traffic Enforcement Officer, Alternate Response Unit, Victim Services and Domestic Violence Coordinator, Sex Offender Registry Administrator and Community Engagement Officer.

Honeysett was promoted to the rank of Sergeant on May 18, 2023 and is currently a Patrol Sergeant. Sgt. Honeysett has been involved with many committees and volunteered her time within the Service and in our community including the Peer Support Team, the Seniors at Risk Committee, the Santa Fund, the Domestic Violence Community Coordinating Committee, and the Ontario Law Enforcement Torch Run.

Sgt. Honeysett has been frequently recognized for her efforts. In 2013, she received a Chief’s Commendation for her commitment to excellence in policing, pride in professionalism and compassion for those in need and has received countless letters of appreciation from the community.
