The North Bay Police officer charged with refusing to blow a breath sample has a March court date.

Stephen Taylor must appear March 10th, 2015 at the North Bay Court House.

Lawyer Dennis Fenton spoke to the matter saying that Tom Hicks will then be Taylor’s counsel.

Justice Alain Perron told the court that Taylor will come before Justice Rogers for a pre-trial hearing.

Taylor must also appear in courtroom 101 on March 31st as well.

Taylor had been expected in court to answer to the charge of refusing a screening sample for allegedly being under the influence of alcohol while driving an automobile.

A North Bay OPP officer on patrol stopped a weaving vehicle on December 4th, 2014.

As a result, Taylor, a 39 year old North Bay police officer from Astorville, was charged with Fail or refuse to provide a breath sample contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

Taylor has faced impaired charges before.

On March 8, 2013 Taylor appeared before the Police Services Hearing Officer, Inspector Dan Markiewich of the Greater Sudbury Police Services. Taylor pled guilty to the Police Services Act Code of Conduct offence of Discreditable Conduct in relation to the December 11th, 2012 Criminal Conviction for Fail to Provide a Breath Sample contrary to Section 254(5) of the Criminal Code of Canada.

Taylor was handed a reduction in rank from First Class Constable to Second Class Constable for a period of nine months -- the penalty under the Police Services Act of Ontario.
