A MacLean’s Moneysense magazine ranking isn’t giving much love to the city of North Bay.

The Canada’s Best Places to Live 2017 ranking released this week has North Bay ranked way down as the 255th best place to live in Canada.

That’s a significant drop from the 2016 rankings which had North Bay rated 133rd, and in 2015 at 103rd.

The annual list, compiled by MacLean's magazine takes into account a variety of factors including, robust economy, high wealth and income, home affordability, low taxes, transit friendly, and more.

The rankings were based out of 219 communities in 2016 and in 2017 they have 420 cities ranked.

The ranking indicated North Bay has an estimated 7.01% unemployment rate, and a median household income of $62,750.

Our northern community also was not in the top 100 in the weather rankings in the list with an estimated 190 days above zero per year.

Sault Ste. Marie came in at 104th in Ontario (263 in Canada), North Bay landed right on the century mark as 100th in Ontario and 255th in Canada. Timmins broke into the top 100 in Ontario, ranking 90th in the province and 225th in the country.

Bringing up the rear as far as Northern Ontario was Elliot Lake, coming in at 148th in the province out of 150, and 379th in Canada.
