Stephen Taylor’s case has been put over again to September 15.
Taylor is the North Bay Police constable charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.
Taylor’s charges include driving with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of over 0.08.
Justice Klein heard from lawyer Jeff Laplante Tuesday morning. Laplante is the acting agent for Taylor, as his counsel is from out of town.
With the extra time, Laplante explained the defense and the prosecution are set for a pre-trial session on September 2nd. Justice Klein agreed to the extension.
This is the third related charge for Constable Taylor, so if he is found guilty he faces a minimum 120 day jail sentence and could be required to drive a car equipped with an ignition interlock device.
Taylor’s first arrest in 2011 had him punished with a one year driving ban and a $1000-dollar fine. His employer, the North Bay Police Services reduced his rank and pay.
As this last case comes forward, Taylor is set for a criminal trial on October 16th. Taylor was charged in December of last year with refusing to provide a breath sample. OPP officers who were patrolling Hwy 94 witnessed a vehicle driving erratically.
