No mass 'Exodus' here

Following a rousing month of voting President of Derrer Marketing Ltd. Lou Derrer welcomes Scott Miller and his business ‘Exodus’ to the Dear Vivian family. Miller was successful in claiming top spot in the Jump Start Your Business giveaway.

“I was impressed how active the finalists were in mobilizing their friends and supporters to vote for them,” says Derrer.

“We had votes from all over Canada, the US, and several from Europe. Facebook actually played a significant role in getting the word out to people they knew.”

The give-away was open to any business in North Bay that has been in operation for less than three years with the aim to help businesses in their infancy realise different techniques to connect with their target markets and hear what their customers have to say.

Derrer says claiming top spot for the business will provide a tremendous boost to any business in 2009, and help ride out the current economic downturn.

Miller now receives a package valued at $4,700 which consists of a one year membership on Dear Vivian including all promotional materials. Also a three hour consultation with Lou Derrer, Free publicity and exposure throughout the year on Dear Vivian and Baytoday, and a free banner ad on Baytoday for one year.

Exodus, located at 701 Oak St. East, is a popular shop for the urban trendy as it offers exclusive brands in street wear.

“We acquire brands directly from trendsetting locales like California, New York City and the U.K.,” says Miller.

“I truly appreciate what Dear Vivian is all about. Traditional forms of advertising are not effective in tapping into my demographic. I think Dear Vivian is something that can help me broaden my customer base."

Bugaboo Baby & You and Ontario Roto Clean also put in a good showing in the give-away voting and both will receive a free one month membership on Dear Vivian.

Derrer says he will be following the success of Miller’s business throughout the year.

“The plan is to highlight how Dear Vivian is helping his business grow and prosper from using the service to its full potential.”
