The rain didn't stop dozens from lining up early outside the new Sport Chek location on McKeown avenue (next to Canadian Tire) in North Bay for the grand opening of the new store Thursday morning.
The new Sport Chek store welcomed shoppers with 25% discounts all over the store. The new store at McKeown Commons opened officially on Thursday as the old location in the North Bay Mall (Lakeshore Drive) closed its doors officially on October 27th in preparation for the relocation to the North end of the city.
The new store includes an "Atmosphere", which offers shoppers higher end footwear, camping and outdoor apparel. The hockey section will include more high end equipment in their Hockey Experts area.
The new store will offer deals for the first 5 days of the grand opening at its 30,000 square foot facility. That's almost double the size of it's old location at the North Bay Mall (17,000 square feet).
On Saturday, November 8th, the first 75 people in line will receive a promotional card valued from $25.00 to $1000.00.
Sport Chek is one of the latest stores to open at McKeown Commons.
It follows openings of other stores such as the Dollar Tree, Winners, Michael's, A & W and PetSmart. Those stores opened on various dates in September and October.
