The kong awaited Rotary Splash Pad will be open for the first time this morning, just in time for the Labour Day Weekend.
Although the project is not yet fully complete, the 6,500 square-foot facility behind the Discovery North Bay Museum on Oak Street will be open to the public beginning at noon today The splash pad will continue to operate daily between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. until Sunday, Sept. 15, weather permitting.
The public is being asked to remain within the fenced area around the splash pad to allow for the new grass sod to take root. A second phase of the project will pick up in the spring, including installation of sun shelters, picnic tables, additional benches and the completion of the landscaping.

The Splash Pad Project has been on the planning agendas for the Rotary clubs of North Bay and North Bay-Nipissing since 2007. The two clubs partnered with the City of North Bay to make the project a reality.
It's hoped that the splash pad will provide a catalyst for development in the downtown waterfront area. This fully accessible splash pad will accommodate adults, families, and seniors.
The two clubs are now in sight of reaching their overall fundraising goal and wish to thank all the businesses, organizations and individuals who have generously donated. For donation information click here.
