A new family series that will air on Amazon Prime will be filmed in the North Bay area this summer.

Beyond Black Beauty is described as "a new family series that follows Jolie Dubois, a strong-willed and gifted equestrian whose Olympic dreams are stunted when her mother shockingly moves them from the wealthy stables of the Belgium elite to an urban ranch on the other side of the world."

Leif Films along with producer Agnes Bristow are in charge of the new production. They have done projects in the North Bay area before including the TV series Rising Sons and the feature film, The Swan.

Some portions of the film will be produced in Belgium, however, those Baltimore area urban ranch scenes will be filmed here in the North Bay area.

"Apparently rural Baltimore, where this ranch is, has similar geography to North Bay, which is one of the reasons North Bay was selected,' said Ainslie S. Wiggs, BG Casting Director, who is working on the project.

"It is a very unique story and most of it will be filmed in North Bay. It is the first time I have seen on TV where black women are the heroes and the protagonists."

Wiggs says they will be looking for a multitude of background actors to help create the film.

"We want to hire as many black background actors as possible from the greater North Bay area," said Wiggs.

"We are looking for about 200 people to be in the series throughout."

She says no experience is necessary.

"We are happy to teach and to train but background actors are really keen for a scene. Imagine watching a movie and only seeing the people who spoke. It would look very strange. They are quite pivotal to the success of the show."

The project will begin filming in the North Bay area in August and will finish up in September.

"We are looking for Black and BIPOC background actors," she said.

BIPOC is the acronym referring to black and indigenous people of colour.

Wiggs asked those interested to please send their photo and cell phone number to [email protected]
