The SIU is investigating a police pursuit and arrest in North Bay and has responded to a request from BayToday for an explanation.
Jason Gennaro , Spokesperson or the Special Investigations Unit says preliminary information suggests the following:
- Around 12:30 p.m. on July 3, North Bay Police were called to a residence in the area bounded by Park Avenue and McKeown Avenue.
- Shortly after officers arrived, a man left the residence in a vehicle.
- There was a brief pursuit.
- During that pursuit, the man who fled from the residence collided with another vehicle at the intersection of Park Avenue and Mary Street.
- The 29-year-old man was arrested farther down the street.
He was taken to hospital where he is being treated for various non-life-threatening injuries.
The SIU has designated one subject officer and three witness officers in this incident.
Three investigators and two forensic investigators have been assigned to the investigation.
